Hot Glue Gun Helpers are here and we are celebrating with a GIVEAWAY!!

It has been two years since Steve and I came up with the concept of Hot Glue Gun Helpers.  What a journey!  From our early prototypes that we crafted from felt to the first peek at the tools and then to our first sales experience at CHA.  It has been a long journey and well worth the wait.  Last week we got the call from Plaid Enterprises (our partner company) that the tools were going to begin shipping!  I literally started to cry!  I was laughing and crying at the same time.  Silly, I know!  We are just so exited (like proud parents) to share them with you.

So we are Giving Them Away!

To celebrate we are giving away 8 Hot Glue Gun Helper Kits, 48 pink AdTech glue guns and 48 Hot Glue Gun Helper finger caps!!! We are holding a new contest each week for the next  8 weeks- so you have plenty of chances to win.  Each week we will draw 6 winners of the caps and guns and 1 grand prize winner of the Hot Glue Gun Helper kit!

  1. Oh, a finger protector would be so nice. We just used a glue gun to make a christmas bulb wreath and baby food jar santa and will use it again later to make popsicle stick reindeer.

  2. If I had $1 for every time I have burned my poor fingers with the ole hot glue gun....well I'd be a lot richer. What an amazing creation!
I just used my hot glue gun to add pine cones, berries, and other Christmas picks to some inexpensive lighted garland for the front door. I needed three 6ft sections, and the ones I wanted were $40 a piece on sale. I bought the $8 strands instead and came home and got to gluing. My garland now looks better than the expensive ones at the store.

  3. I have probably 10 glue guns all over the house, to be used at a moments notice. Anything that needs to be repaired can be done usually with hot glue. But I am so afraid of anyone else getting burned so I do it my self, and yes usually I get burned!!! I am so excited about your glue gun helpers!!! I can't wait to get my hands on a set!!!

  5. What a needed addition to the crafting market. I use my hot glue gun all the time at home and in my kindergarten classroom. How many times have I burned my fingers? Lost count years ago. If I do not get one of these kits from Santa, I will be ordering one after the holidays. Thanks for the chance to win!

  6. I just passed on a bag of glue sticks and the address to this blog to my aunt. She's lives in a retirement community and leads the craft classes. I think the t-shirt wreath might be her next project.

  10. I now follow both of your blogs, adding this one to my google reader! What a wonderful concept. Now I think the worst glue gun story I have is one of my cats knocked the glue gun over and managed to glue it's whispers... not pretty! I laughed when I realized the cat was all right but poor NugNug was not a happy camper.
Thanks for a great giveaway and congrats on a wonderful product!

  11. This is a really interesting idea! I'm not a glove person myself so I'm just a little intimidated of those finger tops but if they'll save me from my regular burns - bring them on!
I recently bought a cordless glue gun - do I have to say more? Addict... Kisses from Zagreb/Croatia! :)

  12. Congratulations!!! What a journey! Oh my, I have burned myself more times than I can count from my hot glue gun - mostly because I try to catch drips, or because I put something down and then it's not where it's supposed to be, so I go to press it down where I want it, forgetting that it's HOT, and OUCH...sigh. My husband has grown accustomed to hearing the shouts of "OUCH! Dang it!" from my craft room...b/c I use my hot glue gun ALL.THE.TIME. LOL!!!!

  13. Seriously, I've burned my finger tips so many tips it doesn't really hurt anymore when I do it. We're talking nerve damage or something here people!

  21. I got about half way through making one of those Eddie Ross ornament wreaths. Had to quit because my fingers were hurting too much. Seriously. I could rob a bank right now since I have no finger prints left! lol Those finger tips would come in mighty handy!!

On another note. Do ya'll have a craft show on PBS still? I haven't run across it in a while but I always enjoyed it.

  22. I'm following the blog, I'm so excited to try these products! I use hot glue a lot and tend toward the overdoing it side-so lots of drips and blobs to catch (usually with my fingers.) Having these products would save me pain and mess.

  29. I have many years of stories I could share. Mostly I have questions, like: #1 Why is it an auto-impulse to stick one's fingers in their mouth when they are hot? Finger burns, then you have tongue burns? Geesh! #2 Why when you have done some heavy glue gunning, like on a wreath, you think it's done, you pick it up to admire it, and it drops a glob of glue that is still hot on top of your foot? #3 Why doesn't cold water stop the burn on your fingers, and when you pull off the cooled glue off your fingers your skin comes off too? I will stop now, as I will probably have nightmares tonight. So you see I need to win one of these sets! Besides my studio is mostly pink and it will match, but I digress...

  31. Those pads would have come in handy tonight. My family craft night was tonight and we made wreaths. I burned my finger while gluing some flowers on one of the wreaths I was making.

  32. I have niece and every time you tell her not to touch it she will do it any way and burns her self every time. It has become a running joke with our family.

  33. What a wonderful idea! This would be a very handy addition to my craft tools. When I was making the headpieces for my daughters veils I had to improvise these tools to make sre each embelishment was place correctly.

I'm one of your newest followers, too!

  36. Finger presses, tweezers, and a flat wand would have really come in handy last Thursday. I broke my plastic frame glasses at the bridge and they are so hard to glue. I tried a myriad of glues but none worked. Then I got out my trusty hot glue gun and it worked like a charm but I burned my fingers in the process. I'm blind as a bat so it was worth the injury so I can see until I can get new ones next week.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I, too, have had very hot finger tips!! Oooweee!
One thing I do have to share is what happened when I had my boyfriend help me make a photo album for a good friends wedding. My first mistake was letting him hold the glue gun.... especially when he had never done it before. After applying some hot glue to a trim, he held the gun away from the album, but it was over my thigh (I had shorts on). Well, it dripped! yyyeeeeoooowww! He felt sooo bad. We can laugh about it now, but not at the time it happened. LOL

  38. Oh I have been wanting to see this ever since you talked about it. I worked in a factory where we made home speakers systems and used hot glue on the wires. I cringe when I think of all the burned fingers and missing skin we had. I wish there was something like this then. I always buy the low temp for projects but that isn't always the best thing and I break out the big guns. This is the best idea in crafting in a long time. Love your blog.

  39. I can't wait to get one!
I have so many burned fingers from hot glue that I don't know where to begin!
One year I was helping my son with a 5th grade project. We were making a lighthouse for his state report. The lighthouse turned out great, but we both ended up with blistered fingers from errant hot glue!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't have one peticular story to tell...all I can say is that I have burned my fingers many, many times! I'm surprised I have finger prints left!!!!! These little helpers would be amazing!!! :o)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hot glue guns are so useful. A hot glue gun is to me like duct tape is to a man. I broke a picture frame once but I was able to fix it in no time with hot glue.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I would love one of these kits! I am forever burning my fingers when using the hot glue gun. My son's first Halloween costume was made with hot glue and fabric, only! I think I burned my fingers at least 6 times!
It was well worth it, because he looked adorable, but I think he would have looked just as adorable even if I didn't have blisters on my fingertips.
    http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f340/HippieKender/Pictures/Family/SammyHalloween01-Lion.jpg
I will probably be picking up one of these kits as my stocking stuffer. Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful product!

  43. Thanks so much for creating hot glue gun helpers! I will be purchasing the 7 piece set soon because I know it will totally come in handy!! I think the tweezers will be awesome because it's got the tips that will not adhere to the item like most anything I use to help hold things in place and the presser will be a great help too!! Yay, no more burned fingers!!! I've had more than my share!!
I suggest that maybe you should invent a glue gun with a long applicator tip that will allow
a good amount of glue in a very hard to reach area. I've often wished for something like that.
Just followed you blog, thanks for sharing your amazing creativity!!

  44. I just posted a huge boo-hoo hot glue boo-boo story a week ago on my blog! I was crafting and stuck my entire fingertip in a blob of high-temp hot glue. It ended my crafting for the night -- and I had to get my kids' bunny ice pack out to heal the burn! I am really excited to hear about your product and it's going to the tippy top of my Christmas wish list!

  57. What a great idea! I was just using my glue gun last night to finish up Christmas ornaments for my co-workers. I didn't burn anything too badly but I have in the past. I remember my mom buying her first glue gun (almost 30 years ago before cool melt) and the first time she used it to make a wreath, she burned her finger so badly that she got a 2nd degree burn. Scarred for life, I try to use some sacrificial ink pen or pencil as a tool, but I still get burned and it makes a mess. My fingers thank you for this product!

  72. This product is fantastic! I once suffered a sever burn on my thumb from a hot glue gun. The blister was huge and throbbed for days! I am often wary of using a hot glue gun for fear of being burned. I am a special ed teacher, and I also don't like to use hot glue guns with my students for dear they will burn their fingers. I tend to use Tacky Glue instead, but it does not have the same adherence as hot glue, and you have to wait hours for it to dry! I would love to try this product so I can craft without fear!

  74. Hi Cathie & Steve,
Love you guys!!! Here is my hot glue gun story, I always feel I have to use my glue gun in the kitchen because when the glue drips and hardens on the counter it's easier to peel. So one day while working with my hot glue gun a puddle of glue had formed and I turned away for just a minute and there was my cat who had jumped up on the counter and wanted to know what I was doing. The poor baby stuck his paw in the hot glue so he could see what it was. He burned his little paw and needless to say is afraid of glue guns!!! Perhaps you guys can come out with paw shaped ones too! I anxiously look forward to getting these so I too won't "burn my paws" while I craft. CONGRATS!!!

  100. I LOVE this! I MUST have it!!!!
My glue gun really needs replacing, it keeps leaking hot glue - EEK! Last time I dared to use it I somehow (will never work out how) glued my favourite trousers to my chair :( so will keep my fingers crossed so I can use my money for new trousers rather than a new gun! ;)

  101. It's about time someone invented this! Leave it to the craft guru's, Cathie and Steve, to come to our rescue! YAY!

Every time I use my old Aleene's glue gun, it's the same routine. Put a piece of tin foil on the table, plug in old glue gun that drips profusely on the foil. Once it's hot, I look at it just dreading the fact that I know I am going to get burned, not once, not twice but several times!

If I am not a lucky winner, I will surely be purchasing your new product and I will no longer fear the dreaded hot glue gun tasks! :)
    Thank you!

  102. OMG I really need one of these!! I quit using my old glue gun just because I'd burn my poor little fingers when I'd make my Christmas wreaths several years ago, now I'll be able to make some more!! Wahooooo!

Thanks so much for your invention......oh and the chance to win one!

  103. I'm following your blog.
My daughter used a glue gun at school and burned herself when she grabbed at a dollop of hot glue when it dripped. Her burn blistered and became an example of how hot a glue gun can get to the rest of the school.

  106. Such a great idea. When I was a kid (and just starting to get crafty) I had a hot glue gun and loved using it. But it was always a mess, the glue got everywhere and I got burns. So now as an adult I've stayed away from hot glue projects to avoid these issues (and avoid my 3 kids getting into it). This kit would totally solve that and get me hot gluing again big time!!

  110. I'm now an official follower of your blog! I just love this idea, how genius! I burn myself all the time! The worst ever was two summers ago while I was working on cupcake stands for my wedding. Holy cow, holy blister! Ouch! This kit would have been a life/finger saver!

  113. I would love, love, love to win one of these. A few Christmas's ago I had an unfortunate accident with my glue gun, I ended up at the Doctor's office with all of the skin burned off the pad of my pinkie finger. I have never experienced PAIN like that in my life. If you have ever been burned, it is not fun. Needless to say, I get a little freaky when I use my glue gun now. So, yeah I would love to win this! 114. Most every project I make involves hot glue. My most recent is a wreath covered in plastics BBs. Yes.. those little airsoft BBs, because I refused to go buy beading when I had a bucket full of BBs.... I had to place each and every one of those by hand on a medium sized wreath form. My fingertips got burned so many times, but it is looking good so far, still have to add some ribbon once the paint dries..

  122. This would be a fantastic addition to my craft room! I joke I can begin my life of crime because I've dripped on my fingers so many times and I'm burning off all my fingerprints one by one!

  123. What an amazing idea and product! I often avoid doing crafts that require a hot glue gun simply because of the worry about burning myself and dealing with the inevitable drips. The HGGH will let me craft more without worry--and involve my daughter without worrying about her getting burned!

  124. What a great idea! I would love to try this out and post about it on my blog! funart4kids.blogspot.com
I teach nearly 500 kids in an elementary school- so hot glue is a must for all of my followers.
At times- my art classroom...well, it's quite a factory. Going fast equals burns. I find it difficult to hold, glue and mass assemble 20+ kids projects in a time crunch...but this would be a great helper! My mother designs home interior products for a large wholesale company- she would also love this. With what she does I could see holding clamps in your line, also. Love it! I hope to be a winner!

  126. I usually burn my fingers, but it is no miracle that a drop of hot glue ends somewhere it doesnt belong. First time I used hot glue gun, I was making a small bag made of jeans. I cut out pockets out of my dad`s old jeans, I glued them together ( the glue went on the inner side of the jeans so that the pocket stays out, and in between those two pockets I glued a thin leather belt my mum used to wear. And the bag was done!!!
You know how back pockets on jeans have their brand name labels? So my little bag had a "Levis" label, and everyone was asking: "Where did you buy it?"
I loved that little bag, now it`s to small for me, beacouse I really carry a lot of things with me.

    Love, P.J

  127. Hmmmm, which story would you like to hear? The one where I scalded my hands, burned my thumb and fingers, or scarred my calf? My sweet glue gun has been not been kind to me! Maybe it's because it's blue and my favorite color is pink? I really need this one!

  128. I think this is just about the "coolest" thing I've ever seen and oh how my fingers would love one of these! I burned my fingers so many times over the holidays making frayed rosette pins that I can't even begin to count...I'd have to take a few days off to let the blisters on my fingers heal before I could start up again...no fun.

  129. This is freakin' fantastic! I have got to get one of these! I used my glue gun to fix my daughter's favorite boots about 2 months ago and burnt the tip of my finger so bad I just haven't had to courage to bring the gun back out since! LOL!

Just recently, I was making some poinsetta clips for presents, and I burned my fingers, got glue all over my newly refinished table, and had the stringies all over me...even in my hair. Not quite sure how that happened, but it did! Ha ha!

  136. I LOVE my hot glue gun. I took a break from it for a while so I could try out some other glues and adhesives. There are just somethings that hot glue will NEVER EVER replace. Currently working on hot gluing jute to some cubscout invites. :)

THANK YOU for creating the hot glue gun helper. I really need to get one. So tired of singing my fingers. Awesome!!
