  5. I am accident prone, so you can probably imagine how dangerous I am (to my self) with a piping hot glue gun! I pretty much burn myself every time I plug it in. I couldn't possibly count how many times it has happened. Hot Glue Gun Helpers will keep me from adding to this long list of self-inflicted wounds!

  6. One time my b/f was helping me make a wedding gift and he was holding the glue gun (because it kept slipping off my table). Well he wasn't paying attention and the glue dripped on my thigh! OOWWW.
I think the whole package is a great idea, I would definitely make good use of the mat.......lol.

  8. I squeezed some hot glue right under my nail bed one night while I was gluing away, most painful for sure because I couldn't rip it right off like I usually do! I never pay close enough attention and usually end up with a burn or two!

  12. I burned my fingers many times my first time ever using a hot glue gun. Martha Stewart had said to keep a bowl of cold water near by so you could dip your fingers in when glue gets on them. I thought, "gosh, that's a bit silly! How bad can it be?!?!?". Needless to say I learned quick. Still don't have the bowl of water near by so am looking forward to these Hot Glue Helpers!

  21. I'm a blog follower. My coffee table and kitchen table always have dried hot glue on them. My dog chewed the cord of my favorite hot glue gun in the middle of a project I was working on, so I had to run grab a cheap one from the dollar section of the local store, only I didn't know the cord was only 2 feet long. I kept unintentionally unplugging it everytime I tried to glue, so I had to finish my project cramped up on the floor right next to the outlet, not fun!

  22. I'm keeping my fingerprintless fingers crossed that I win this time! :)

  44. I NEED THIS! :)

    My story:
Just last year I was sitting on the floor making a really pretty baby rosette headband. Two problems with this scenario - 1) I was sitting on the floor, and 2) I was wearing shorts. I was using an insanely hot glue gun (no joke, you could probably glue your car to the side of the garage with that thing!). I put glue all over the back of a quarter sized rosette and then flipped it over to put it on the headband. You know what's coming next right? Yes, instead of flipping over onto the headband, that steaming hot rosette flipped right over glue side down onto my leg!! My husband was traveling for work that night. It was after midnight. My daughter was asleep. I knew I probably should go to the hospital but I wasn't convinced waking my sleeping daughter was a good plan. After talking to a nurse friend and texting her a picture of the burn, she practically forced me to go to the ER immediately. This was not your standard glue gun burn. It didn't even blister. My skin basically melted off. This was an 'almost burned my leg off' glue gun burn! Long story short, I had a really severe burn that took a really long time to heal and I have a really strange looking scar. What did I learn? I should be more careful.

  57. Here's my story:

I used to be a leader for very LARGE Girl Scout troop (31 girls). We were crafting fools most of the time. I was working with them on a particularly difficult craft of heavily dribbling hot glue from a glue gun onto racketballs, to later peel apart and made open circular christmas ornaments with. One of the girls were talking with her friend and not paying attention and when I bent over to pick something up beside her, she dribbled hot glue all over my head! It wasn't much, but enough to get my attention (and hers) immediately with my screaching! We never made another craft like this again! - Karen

  58. Such fabulous stories! I wish I had something has great to share-- As a teacher I use hot glue a lot for craft projects with the kids. I'm excited about tools that will let me have my students participate more in the glue process and stay safe while they are at it!

As your sister--I'm not really eligible to win--I just wanted to show my support!

    Love,
    Erin

  67. Hot glue guns. Who doesnt have a story?

I learned quickly that you dont use hot glue guns when the kids havent gone down for their nap yet! I had put them down, but they werent asleep. Started crafting and woo hoo came from behind me, I turned and hit the end of the glue gun into my forearm - screamed - and magically she ran back to her room! I did go check on her after I got the glue and layers of skin taken care of!
